Jeanna Butterfield
MSW, LCSW
OWNER

Jeanna Butterfield is a licensed clinical social worker who provides services in Wyoming’s Bighorn Basin. She completed her master’s degree at Walla Walla College with an emphasis on adolescent and family therapy. During her career she has worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of treatment settings including schools, outpatient and inpatient mental health facilities, and substance abuse treatment facilities.

As the owner of Healthy Frontier Counseling Inc., Jeanna collaborates with clients to increase their understanding of resources and tools that contribute to a happier, healthier lifestyle. She is a firm believer in the effectiveness of psychotherapy to help individuals improve their self confidence and self esteem, develop more fulfilling relationships, and to chart a positive direction for the future.

Through the therapy process, she finds clients relief from bothersome symptoms by helping clients get to the root of the problems that often cause unhealthy behavior patterns.  She works diligently to help clients recognize their own unique strengths and abilities in a non-judgmental and empathetic setting.

Her love for the outdoors and animals has lead Jeanna Butterfield to start providing equine-assisted psychotherapy and equine-assisted learning services to the residents of Wyoming. This offers a different type of therapy outside of a traditional office setting.

Jeanna Butterfield has extensive experience in counseling and psychotherapy. She is a specialist in child welfare and has worked with children and families for more than 20 years. She has worked as a clinician since 2007 and been in private practice since 2011.

Jeanna is a regular speaker on psychotherapy issues in Wyoming. She has spoken at numerous events, including:

  • Guest speaker, 2014, Washakie County School District 1: “Identifying the Suicidal Student.”
  • Guest speaker, 2015, Washakie County School District 1: “The Importance of Building Relationships with Your Students: Identifying When There is a Problem,” and “The Chain of Command Within your District and Community to Help Protect Your Students.”
  • Guest speaker, 2017 EAGALA National Conference: “Passion Needs Persistence and Proof Through the EAGALA Model.”

Jim Butterfield
EQUINE ASSISTANT

Jim Butterfield is an equine assistant at Healthy Frontier Counseling. Jim has worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of treatment settings. He is Level I certified in the Eagala Model.

A cowboy and rancher by day, Jim got “roped” into his Eagala training because he’s married to Jeanna, the therapist. His years of horse training, raising kids, serving on multiple civic boards, and his overall strong morals and ethics make him the perfect man for the job. Jim hauls the horses, spends time in the arena, and keeps the livestock happy and healthy.

The Eagala Model stands alone in the world of equine-assisted therapy due to a strict commitment to standards, code of ethics, continuing education, and a replicable framework. The Eagala Model is a team approach that includes a registered, credentialed Mental Health Professional, a qualified Equine Specialist, and horses working together with the client at all times.
